If you look up the road to the left, you will see the Woolmanhill Hospital. In 1883 the women of Aberdeen, in association with the VSA, set up a fresh flower delivery service for the sick and isolated of the city, making regular stops at the hospital. In 1875, recognising the power of books to entertain, lift spirits & inspire imaginations, they expanded into, and created, a Library that would be housed the City’s hospital. It was later moved with the creation of the Central Library in 1892, which is just behind us. What a lovely double delivery of books and fresh flowers.

If your life has been touched by VSA, we invite you to share you story
