This is His Majesty's Theatre. It is still a fully functioning theatre today, as it was in 1944 when the “Children of Northern Rhodesia” sent money to the “Children of Aberdeen” who had been bombed out and it was spent on a show at His Majesty’s Theatre for over 300 children. Some Scots relocated to Northern Rhodesia as missionaries, prospectors and farmers. The papers of January 1944 report on a show at His Majesty’s Theatre, which saw clowns as one of the acts leave the stage and mingle with the audience. This was a welcomed treat for children dealing with the stress of war and a beautiful gesture from the children of Rhodesia to the children of Aberdeen.
